The ContrafabulistsKin Lane and Audrey Watters – monitor predictions that technologists and marketers make about the future of technology. No surprise, most of the predictions are made about AI, a development whose future folks have been predicting incorrectly since the 1950s. Here are the predictions made this week:

Via Techcrunch: “Everything SpaceX revealed about its updated plan to reach Mars by 2022.” (As The Verge notes, “Elon Musk’s idea for commercial rocket travel on Earth would be a logistical nightmare.”)

Dyson predicts it will start selling an electric car by 2020.

According to the US Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics, college enrollment is projected to grow by 15% by 2025.

Pearson predicts what sorts of skills students will need by 2030 in order to be employed. Nesta and the University of Oxford also predict what sorts of skills people will need to be employable by 2030.

Slate reminds us that the “futurist industry” is overwhelmingly white and male.
