The Contrafabulists – Kin Lane and Audrey Watters – monitor predictions that technologists and marketers make about the future of technology. No surprise, most of the predictions are made about AI, a development whose future folks have been predicting incorrectly since the 1950s.
Here are the predictions made this week:
Oh. It’s my favorite prediction: “Robots will replace teachers by 2027,” says Futurism, repeating the claims of Anthony Seldon, a “British education expert.”
Via Bloomberg: “Space Startup Raises $90 Million to Start Moon Ads by 2020.” The goal, to be clear, is to get to the moon by 2020. To fund that: the moon ads.
Via CNBC: “Trader who called bitcoin rally says cryptocurrency will surge above $100,000 in 2018.”
TechRepublic predicts that “Only 10% of companies will achieve digital transformation with blockchain by 2022.”
Gartner predicts that “By 2020, Artificial Intelligence Will Create More Jobs Than It Eliminates.”
Via Futurism: “The World Bank Will Stop Fossil Fuel Financing Beginning in 2019.”
More from Futurism: “Prepare Yourself for the ‘Tsunami of Data’ Expected to Hit by 2025.” I am not sure how you prepare for the tsunami. Umbrellas and data storage units, I guess.
